Nine Elms Cold Store

9th January 1999 - what's left of the Nine Elms Cold Store in Vauxhall, London - the comedian Harry Hill's favourite building in London, which is why these pages are here.

Demolition is halfway through - the two ends of the building are left.

Once the largest frozen meat storage facility in London, maybe the world? It held up to 20,000 tons of meat, with some butter and cheese, although they needed gangways to get to it all which usually cut the total to about 16,000 tons.

Look - someone's stuck a "1" sticker on that "Keep Left" bollard! Don't let anyone tell you that nothing ever happens in Vauxhall.

Peter Sellers made a film in the slums that used to be around here, called "The Optimists of Nine Elms" - bet you haven't seen it!
